Award-winning Italian sugar artists Cristina and Aurora Bonafede of La Belle Aurore will teach students how to create lifelike sugarpaste figures in these two days of modeling classes. On Day 1, students will create the sugarpaste doll Leandra Francesca, with her adorable outfit, playful expression, and fluffy cotton candy. On Day 2, students will model Susy, with her graceful pose, beautifully detailed aproned outfit, and braided hair.
Classes are sold separately; students may register for either day, or both.
**Please note that due to renovation work involving our usual classroom in Edgewater, NJ, our classes have moved temporarily. Classes will return to Edgewater in June.**
Class will run from 9:00AM to 6:00PM daily, March 9-10, 2019 (Saturday/Sunday), in Fort Lee, NJ. Address, directions, and public-transportation information will be sent via email upon acceptance into class. Parking is available. All materials will be provided. Light breakfast options, lunch, mid-afternoon snack, and beverages throughout the day are also included.
Blocks of guest suites have been reserved for out-of-town guests at the Homewood Suites in Edgewater, NJ. Complimentary hotel shuttle service is provided within a 3-mile radius of the hotel; additionally, transportation will be arranged to shuttle students between the hotel and the class. The Homewood Suites in Edgewater is conveniently located on the shores of the Hudson River directly across from upper Manhattan, and is easily accessible via the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel, public bus transportation, or NY Waterways ferry.
The hotel is located in an upscale modern commercial development with many shops, restaurants, and entertainment options just footsteps away. Parking is complimentary.
La Belle Aurore is the brainchild of an Italian trio composed of Aurora Bonafede (Bachelor in Fine Arts), Cristina Bonafede (Interior and Technical Web Designer) and Massimiliano d’Orso (Goldsmith). The three cake artists began their adventure in 2012 competing at the "Cake for Children" and winning the first award.
Since then, it has been a succession of awards. In 2016 at the New York Cake Show they were honored among the 10 best cake designers in the world!
The three artists are currently holding courses and master-classes internationally.
They stand out for their unique techniques in modeling, especially dolls with a vintage look and a porcelain finish, as well as for the use of the multi-layer technique.
This new technique envisages the use of sugar paste layers, colored, shaped and overlapped in order to obtain a three-dimensional effect. It is a cutting-edge technique which has become extremely popular in the world of sugar art.
